近年来，中天钢铁致力打造绿色生态新钢城，不断精细工艺，优化指标。值得一提的是，南通公司所有高炉已配备高炉煤气精脱硫装置，成为全省中大型高炉中首家配置的单位，实现了均压煤气的全回收，减少了对空排放。

炼铁厂煤气管控工程师吴国华介绍，每座高炉热风炉系统都配置了4座顶燃式热风炉，采用二烧二送的送风制度，不仅减少了热风炉频繁操作造成的各阀门动作中的电能消耗，同时减少了送风过程中为均衡送风温度而混入的冷风，从而实现热能的充分利用，减少了煤气消耗。所有排放指标，都优于国标。
